Team San Diego Aguirre News and Announcements

12/31/24 - Team San Diego Earns Berth to 2025 PGF Tournament

Based on their fantastic run to a Top-10 finish last year at PGFs, the team earned an automatic berth into the 2025 PGF Platinum division in their first year of 14u.  This is the premier tournament in the US and it is a great showing of respect to be able to accept this berth based on their past achievements. The team is looking forward to developing all spring and summer with the PGF as their penultimate goal at the end of the summer. Congratulations!

12/10/24 - Team San Diego Places 5th in Second Tournament in a Row

For the second time in a row TSD Aguirre placed 5th out of 30 teams at the TCS Toy Drive! With 3 great games in pool play they were seeded into the Gold Bracket with a Bye for Sunday.  They easily dispatched the SoCal Mavericks 10-3.  Consistent hitting, a huge 8 run 2nd inning and great pitching got the tournament started off on the right track.  Next up was the Regulators and it was more of the same.  A 5 run 2nd followed by a 6 run 3rd that ran out the clock was also paired with shut down pitching as they worked a lopsided 11-1 win.  The last game of pool play was a little tougher as they ran up against a much stronger pitching matchup making runs harder to come by.  The team went up 1-0 early but a late run in the 4th tied it up as the game ended with a draw.  Based on tie breakers, TSD was seeded first out of their pool giving them the 1st round bye in the Gold Division.  Unfortunately the first game on Saturday was a sister/sister match up as they went up against the older 14u Team in our own organization TSD Balestreri National.  It was great to compete against the competition and their friends, but a constant barrage of offense had them pull away a little each inning.  Unable to get any offense flowing and only 1 hit made for a tough exit and a 0-10 loss.  Still, it was a great tournament to again get the 1st Seed and be in the top bracket of the tournament against the older teams.  A great finish to the Fall of 2024 Season!

11/04/24 - Team San Diego Aguirre Places Top-5 out of 48 Teams at Monster Mash

In the first full tournament in 14u, Team San Diego Aguirre announced their arrival into the age group in spectacular fashion placing tied for 5th out of 48 total teams.  They started their Saturday pool play with 2 great victories 12-1 and 7-2.  With first place in the pool on the line, the team found a way to scrap out a tie in the 3rd game, coming from behind from 0-5 in the last inning. The tie earned them a first place out of the pool and in the top Gold Bracket for Sunday.  Earning a bye for their seeding, the first bracket game was a tight contest as Team San Diego went head-to-head with another pools 1st place team and came up with a 3-0 shutout behind some great defense.  The next games were always going to be tough as the only teams left were some of the Top older 14u teams in the tournament and area.  Team San Diego unfortunately fell to a very strong offensive (in multiple ways) team 0-5.  This finished them in the Top-8 teams and officially tied for 5th overall.  Awesome start for the young team that has had a great start to the fall.

10/28/24 - Team San Diego Aguirre Hot Fall Start!

TSD Aguirre started off their 14u Journey with an impressive 10-4-3 record through September and October!  They have played a solid schedule of teams including 5 older 14u teams and 3 different 16u teams.  They hold an impressive 6-2-1 against those teams showing they are already competitive with the older teams and even HS divisions.  The hot start is a total team effort with great pitching, defense and hitting all around and from all parts of the lineup.  They enter the November/December Tournament schedule with the Monster Mash in San Diego in the first week of November.
