First Games of 2025

TSDAguirre - 2, Hustle Ruiz 14u -1

The first games of 2025 were a set of double header friendlies with the always competitive Hustle Ruiz team in Santee.  It was a tight game with great pitching and defense on both sides.  Hannah Peck pitched for TSD and started off with a fantastic performance pitching perfect for the first 4.1 innings before finishing for the win with 6IP 1ER 0BB and 2 SO.  While runs were hard to come by, a single by Kelsey followed by a couple of back to back smashes into the gaps by Brielle Brown and Kenzie Battiest scored the 2 runs needed.  In addition to that, Brielle was a stalwart defender with a ton of plays at second.

TSDAguirre - 6, Hustle Ruiz 14u -4

The second game of the double header featured a little more offense from both dugouts.  Roxanne and Hailey combined for the victory in the circle pitching 5 innings with 3ER.  Mikayla Pitts got the team on the board in the first inning with a single, a few stolen bases and then was hit home on a sacrifice fly by Roxanne.  With 2 outs a little later, Kelsey, Brielle and Kenzie again combined for 3 straight hits to score again in almost the same fashion as the first game. The team scored 4 more in the 4th with some of the newer players getting involved.  Londyn drew the walk, setting up a triple by Hannah, and a single by Lana to score the first 2.  With another 2 out rally later in the inning, a double by Mikayla and single by Roxanne put the team up for good. Great start to 2025!

TSC Toy Drive 2024

1st Seed out of Pool, Gold Bracket,  5th Place Finish!

TSDAguirre - 10, SoCal Mavericks -3

The first game of the day was an offensive showing as they dominated the second inning with an 8 run explosion with 13 players coming to the plate. Brielle Brown started the rally with a double and finished it with a single.  In between, a single by Hannah and Roxanne, followed by a double by Kelsey finished the snowman scoring. Roxanne Gaut pitched a great game giving up 0ER on 3 innings for the win.

TSD Aguirre - 11, SD Renegades 14U- 1

The second game also had a second inning explosion as the team posted 5 runs led by a double by Kat Estrada followed by a string of singles by Kenzie, Hannah, and Makayla.  They added another 6 in the following inning with 9 batters coming to the plate before the game ended on time.  Haily Young pitched some shutdown ball giving up 1 hit while striking out 4 and allowing o earned runs.

TSDAguirre - 1, Athletics Mercado Cordero - 1

A tough final game of the afternoon as this one was a pitchers dual from start to finish. TSD went ahead on an early run scored when Makayla started off the game with a single to be driven home by Ashtyn Weber. TSD was only able to scrap together 2 more hits after that. Hannah Peck pitched a gem of a game to secure the tie going 5 Innings with 10 strikeouts.  She allowed only 1 hit. Unfortunately that hit score a base runner for the tie, but was unearned.  The tie however did secure the 1st Place out of their pool and placed them in the Gold Bracket for the second time in a row.

TSDAguirre - 0, Team San Diego Balestreri National 14u - 10

Receiving a bye in the first round of bracket played put them into the top-8 teams left but had them facing the top 14u team in their own organization in TSD Balestreri National.  It was a tough road offensively as Aguirre was only able to put together 1 hit by Makayala in the bottom of the 4th.  Their older TSD counterparts came out swinging and put up runs in almost every inning to slowly turn the game into a 10-0 rout. Still with the loss, TSD Aguirre again placed tied for 5th overall in the tournament for the second straight time.  This finishes our 2024 season and even though we are a first year 14s we definitely showed we are already competitive in the top echelons in the age group. Next up: 2025!

Saturday Nov 24th Friendlies

TSDAguirre - 7, Firecrackers Brashear Hicks-6

Team San Diego Aguirre notched a huge comeback win against the Firecrackers with a 5 run botton of the 5th. Down 6-2 heading into the inning, Makayla and Roxanne started things off with back to back singles. After an Ashtyn sacrifice fly and a couple of walks, Kenzie initiated a bases clearing single that got by the defense allowing all 3 players to score and win the game. Roxanne got the win in the circle pitching 5 innings with 2ER.

TSD Aguirre - 2, Hustle Ruiz 2011 - 6

Team San Diego dropped the second game of the day to Hustle 2011.  They scored their runs early with Rylinne Gilfry starting the game off with a double and being brought home by Makayla a few batters later. The next inning was almost the same with Ashtyn leading off with a double.  After her pinch runner (Makayla) stole 3rd, Brielle Brown brought her in with a deep hit to left field for the sacrifice RBI.  Brielle also had a great day in the circle, coming in relief and pitching the last 3.2 innings of shutout ball with 2 strikeout.

Saturday Nov 16th Friendlies

TSDAguirre - 0, Athletics Mercado Mack Lee -6

After an off week, the team came out a little rusty at the plate against a very solid AM Mack Team and a very good pitcher that helped us last summer at PGFs.  It was a little bit of a cold start as the lone bright spot was Dani Aldrete squeezing out a single in the second inning. Hannah Peck took the loss in the circle pitching 4 Innings with 2ER, 3BB and 2Ks.

TSD Aguirre - 1, Power Surge Q- 10

Things did not look too much better in the second game as the bats stayed silent for the most part. Kelsey singled in the 4th and Ashtyn got the single to bring in the only run of the game.  Kat had a single in the 5th as the last of the only 3 hits in the game.  Hailey Young started the game with Roxanne Gaut finishing.  The defense was a little rusty as well as the pair of pitchers combined for only 1 earned run out of the 10 that came in.

TSDAguirre - 7, Athletics Mercado Mack Cordero - 2

A little life at the plate as the lights came on finally. Hannah Peck had a multiple hit game going 2 for 2 with Kenzie Battiest, Kelsey Elliot and Makayla Pitts also getting hits and generating 5 of the 7 runs between them. Audrey Flores showed some great plate discipline with 2 walks and 2 stolen bases. Roxanne Gaut and Hannah combined for the win in the circle each with 2 strikeouts.  Defense definitely stepped up a bit more in this game as the errors were minimal and not a factor.

TSDAguirre - 1, Athletics Mercado Mack 2028 - 11

While the score looks like the bats went back to sleep, the team did get some hits in this game but they seemed to be spread out enough to not get anything going.  2 singles by Roxanne Gaut and Kelsey Elliott were paired together to score the only run in the 1st inning. A single by Ashtyn in the 2nd, a double by Kat in the 3rd and a single by Kenzie in the 4th all provided a spark but couldnt get the rally going. Defensively, the circle was shared by Hannah and Audri Flores.  The older AM team was strong at the plate but the defensive errors and walks definitely allowed too many base runners throughout the game.  Tough days happen for all teams and coming off a great tournament and a weekend off, they will shake this rust off, get back to work and keep the positive energy flowing into the rest of the winter.

Monster Mash 2024

1st Seed out of Pool, Gold Bracket,  5th Place Finish!

TSDAguirre - 12, Desert Velocity Cisneros -1

Team San Diego opened up their first pool play game of the weekend with a no doubter scoring 6 runs in the top of the 1st.  With 3 Singles (Ashtyn, Hannah, Kenzie) and 3 Doubles (Makayla, Dani, Hailey) the bats came out to hit. They scored 3 more in both the 2nd and 3rd with Ashtyn supplying more power in the 2nd with a triple.

TSD Aguirre - 7, CA Bombers 14U- 2

Team San Diego also came out with the bats on fire in the second game posting 4 runs in the top of the first. Dani supplied the power with a 2 run double to put the team up early. The 3rd inning also saw a crooked number as they put up another 3 runs behind a clutch single to clear the runners by Brielle. Roxanne pitched a tight game giving up just 1ER on 4IP with 5 strikeouts.

TSDAguirre - 6, Athletics Mercado 2011 - 6

The final pool play game was definitely one of the best games of the day and showed some grit and toughness. AM 2011 scored 3 runs in the first and 2 in the 3rd to go up 5 while for the first time the bats for Aguirre went a little cold.  However, they came back to life in the 5th with a huge 6 run explosion to make up the entire deficit and go up 1. Stringing together 4 singles and a double the girls stormed back to take the lead at 6.  AM 2011 showed some grit of their own, they scraped together a run in the bottom to end with a 6-6 tie.  However due to tournament rule tiebreakers, the tie earned the birth for TSD Aguirre into the Gold Bracket as a #1 seed.

TSDAguirre - 3, Batbusters GP - 0

With a #1 seed and a first round bye, the girls earned their way into the final 8 with a close 3-0 shutout of Batbusters GP in the first bracket game on Sunday.  Hannah pitched the complete game shutout with 5IP and 6K while retiring the last 7 batters in a row. Team San Diego got on the board early with some fantastic small ball to start the game.  Makayla singled to start, followed by a great bunt by Roxanne to move her to second for Kelsey to hit her in with a single.  The perfect opening sequence. They followed suit in the second inning with a double by Hailey, and a bunt single by Kenzie allowing Hailey to score on a double steal moments later. In a tight game, the small ball game was on point and was the difference in the game.

TSDAguirre - 0, Firecrackers RTY - 5

With only 8 teams left in the gold bracket and tournament, the next game was against the second year 14u Firecrackers Team.  In a contentious game, the Firecrackers strength difference and age definitely showed as TSD was defeated 0-5. Dani was a strong offensive presence barreling up the ball twice in both her at bats, although only one fell for a hit. Roxanne added 2 hits of her own, and Tita also drove a nice ball up the middle for our only 4 hits of the game.  Roxanne and Hannah split the game in the circle giving up just 3 ER to an extremely strong hitting team. The loss ended the tournament but showed that we are competitive with even some of the top older 14u teams in Southern California.

Oct 27th, 2024  Friendlies

TSDAguirre - 2, Athletics Mercado Godoy 2029 -2

Team San Diego traveled up into deep Orange County this weekend to play a trio of teams outside of the area. First up was a PGF Top-20 Premier Team in AM Godoy.  It was a close game the entire morning ending in a 2-2 tie. Hannah Peck pitched a 4 Innings with 2Runs (0 earned) and contributed at the plate with a 2RBI double to tie it in the 5th. Not bad for the Birthday Girl! Brielle Brown and Audri Flores found their way on base ahead of her to score.

TSD Aguirre - 6, Wolfpack Murphy 14U- 7

In the 2nd game of the day, TSD started out a little shaky giving up 7 runs in the bottom of the 1st but settled down to hold them scoreless the rest of the game.  Punching back in the top of the 2nd was Brielle Brown hitting a 3RBI Home Run on a bomb into the gap on a fenceless field that had so much power it was still rolling as she was rounding third. Hailey Young followed suit 2 batters later as she smoked one down the left field sideline right afterwards for a homerun of her own. TSD put up 2 more in the top of the 3rd to get it to one run but could not get the final run or two by the time drop dead ran out.

TSDAguirre - 16, Cal Lite Flores/Allan - 2

The final game was an offensive blowout as TSD exploded for 5 in the first and 11 in the 2nd.  Hailey Young got the complete game as the winning pitcher with 3.2 innings and 2 R (0Earned). Kat Estrada had a great game going 2 for 2, 2 Runs and 3 RBIs. Rylinne Gilfry, Roxanne Gaut and Ashtyn Weber also had multiple hit and multiple RBI games as well.  A fun end to the day to go out with that much offensive power.

Oct 20th, 2024  Friendlies

TSDAguirre - 5, Batbuster Hill - 2

Team San Diego opened up a series of 3 friendlies with a win over constant rival Batbusters Hill.  After giving up a few runs in the first, Hannah Peck took the win in the circle pitching 6Ks over 4 innings with 0 walks.  Makayla Pitts abused the right center gap hitting a triple in the first inning and a double to the same spot in the 4th. She was 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 Stolen Bases and 3 runs scored on the day.

TSD Aguirre - 8, East County Fury 16u - 8

Going against another 16u team, San Diego was comfortable at the plate racking up 6 runs in the first 2 innings to take a 6-0 lead. Power was supplied by Ashtyn Weber, Brielle Brown and Hailey Young all hitting doubles in the first two frames. 16U Fury found their bats with the help of a few errors in the 3rd as they put up an 8 run inning to take the lead.  Resiliently, San Diego was able to fight back to even with a series of singles by Brielle, Audri, and Hannah before time ran out as the game ended in a tie.

TSDAguirre - 7, Powersurge Sandoval 16u - 0

Finishing the day with our 3rd game against a 16u opponent in the last 4 games, TSD showed they are competitive across the age groups with a decisive victory over Power Surge Sandoval. Hannah and Audri combined with 2 innings each for the 1 hit shutout. Kenzie, Kat, Hailey and Ashtyn all had multiple hits with Kenzie knocking in 2. TSD strung their hits together for a big 5 run 2nd and never looked back.

Oct 13th, 2024  Friendlies

TSDAguirre 6, Breakers Labs Gomez 1

Team San Diego easily dispatched the older Breakers Labs team on a stellar picthing performance by Hannah Peck.  She stunned them at the plate with a 9K performance that never had them threaten.  At the plate, Kelsey Elliott was 3-3 with 3 RBI, while Roxanne Gaut also collected a couple hits.  Hailey Young displayed some power with a roped double in 6th inning. Brielle, Dani, Audrey, and Rylinne also collected hits in the game.

TSD Aguirre 5, SoCal Breakers 14u 3

Team San Diego racked up the runs early scoring in the first 3 innings to take a 5 run lead. Brielle Brown and Hailey Young both hit for power with doubles while a sting of singles by Mikayla Pitts, Ashtyn Weber, Dani Aldrete and Tita Luker constantly had people on the bases throughout the game.  Roxanne Gaut pitched the 4 innings and built up 5Ks and 0 earned runs.

TSDAguirre 0, AM Mack 2027 6

Going up against sophomores in high school made runs hard to come by for this game as our first year 14u Team was scheduled against a 2027 established squad from Athletics Mercado Mack.  Roxanne Gaut and Dani Aldrete were able to get on the bases as our sole offense.  Brielle Brown had a clean first inning against this older crew before Hannah Peck came in to pitch the last 4 innings.  The 12 year old ended with a respectable 5Ks and 3ER against the roster which probably had people drive themselves to the game.
